To achieve maximum quality some proper dissolving techniques are essential . A high speed stirrer is indispensable for dissolving the pigment chips . Vessel diameter should be 2.5-3.5 times of the blade diameter and the height of stirrer should be 1/3 of the blade or stirrer diameter from the bottom of the vessel .A good starting formula for dissolving the chips would compose 30% pigment chips plus 70% solvents .As experience dictates , the ratio can be modified since the viscosity and concentration of the final paste.Depend on the type of binders and solvent selected .

1:Machinery:
Existing high speed stirrers with saw tooth speed of blade tip should reach 1500 mete per . min . A stirrer with 40 cm diameter with 1100-1400 RPM is suitable .

2:Vessel:
Vessel diameter=3X blade or stirrer diameter (approx. but not more than)
Height of stirrer form of vessel=1/3 x blade or stirrer diameter .These conditions ensure good mixing without any dead spots .

3:Method:
Use higher viscosity medium initially and let down after final mixing .

4:Mixing time:
Within 60 minutes . Best results can be obtained if chip preparation is allowed to swell for 12-24 hours in Preferably equal part of solvent containing inner solvent suitable for particular application . This may enable complete dispersion within 15 minutes .
